Kārlis Streips , a local journalist, lecturer and translator , who has openly expressed his non-traditional sexual orientation and is an active defender of sexual minorities, announced last week on social networks that he would like to marry his beloved man next summer – the portal Delfi.lv reports .

“I hope gay and lesbian marriages will be legalized in Illinois by early summer. If so, I’ll go with my boyfriend to Chicago and marry him,” Streep said on June 26.

Last week, a law banning same-sex marriage in the state of California was repealed, resulting in 13 states in the United States that currently allow gay and lesbian marriage.

“If you don’t like gays and lesbians because of a 5,000-year-old nomadic text called the Bible, or because you’re confused about your sexuality, fuck yourself, sit back, and understand that we don’t live in the 14th century anymore. Thank you! ” Streep is convinced in his statements.
