The shooting down of a Malaysia Airlines passenger plane over the rebel-controlled areas in eastern Ukraine is a “9/11 scale” terrorist attack, according to former Russian Deputy Prime Minister Boris Nemtsov.

U.S. intelligence confirms that the plane was shot down by an anti-aircraft missile on Thursday, July 17. The radar system has detected that the ground-to-air missile system turns on and the plane is tracked, CNN reported, but “traces of heat” were noticed at the time of the shooting. It is not yet known where the deadly missile was fired at 298 people.
